Abilities Expo

David Korse

Abilities Expo takes place in 7 large communities in the U.S. There was one in Toronto, Canada, that was discontinued. David Korse, President and an associate run the expos with a local organizer. The attendance fee is $0 as the booths pay the fees. The expos have been run by David and the team for 15 years with the original expo in 1979. The web site is www.abilities.com. Rising Above Bakery

Shiri Ullrich

Shiri was born , went to school and joined the army in Israel. She moved to the U.S., went to school and became a speech therapist and enjoyed her passion for baking. The business was included in a segment on NBC News.

Rising Above Bakery

Shiri Ullrich

Shiri Ullrich was born in Israel, served in the army, educated there and in the United States. She was a speech therapist and then founded Rising Above Bakery in her house. While she had cancer and chemotherapy she has grown the bakery with volunteers and participants with learning disabilities. The bakery currently operates in a community college in Nyach, New York.

The organization is a for profit storefront social enterprise, giving back to community.
